岡崎ラグビースクール

About Our School

Giving the children of Okazaki a life-changing experience through rugby.

Our Philosophy

Everyone is a player.

Rugby is famous for the spirit of "One for All, All for One." We honour this spirit by creating a place where every child who steps onto the pitch is the main character — regardless of fitness, experience, gender, or nationality.

The fast runner, the strong tackler, the one who always sees the whole field. Each child's individuality connects through a pass toward a single try (goal). The trust in your teammates that grows through that process is the lifelong gift that rugby gives.

In an age when digital experiences are increasingly dominant, we believe the value of moving your body with friends, facing failure, and getting back up has never been greater.

Our History

  1. Founded in 1969

Established in September 1969 with a passion for bringing rugby to the children of Okazaki. We are one of the most traditional rugby schools in Aichi Prefecture.

  2. Community Roots

For over 50 years, we have been an officially recognized school by the JRFU and Aichi RFU, dedicated to the healthy development of local youth.

  3. Multicultural Inclusion

Located in an industrial hub, we actively welcome families from all backgrounds. We provide an environment where rugby transcends language and cultural barriers.

  4. 2025: 56th Anniversary

Under Principal Akihiro Nonoyama, we currently have about 60 students from preschool to grade 6, pursuing "safe and fun rugby" for the next 50 years.

Three Coaching Pillars

🏉

Fun before technique

We care more about the joy of 'I want to do that again!' than about winning matches. Starting with familiar activities like tag games, children warm up to the ball at their own pace. We create an environment where fun is the entry point, and growth happens naturally.

🪜

Small wins, big confidence

We start with tag rugby (no tackling) and progress step by step according to age, size, and individual readiness. Each small success builds confidence, developing the physical foundations that serve children not only in rugby but in any sport.

🤝

Raising independent people

Greetings, tidying equipment, caring for teammates. Beyond rugby skills, we nurture the discipline and consideration that will serve children for the rest of their lives.

Our Commitment to Safety

We know that "injury concerns" is the number-one worry for parents. Here is how we address it.

  • Gradual introduction of contact

Young children and lower grades play tag rugby only — no tackling at all. From 3rd grade onward, proper tackle form and falling technique are taught carefully and progressively.

  • Certified coaches

All coaching is led by Japan Rugby Football Union-certified instructors who follow the latest safety standards. We never push children beyond their limits.

  • Injury prevention programme

Our custom warm-up routine is designed to protect growing bodies. We enforce thorough stretching before and after every session.

  • Hydration and weather monitoring

In summer, mandatory water breaks are scheduled every 15 minutes. We use a wet-bulb globe temperature meter, and practice is immediately suspended when safety thresholds are exceeded or lightning is detected.
